PERILS IN THE AIR
GIANT ’PLANE IN COLLISION. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright MUNICH, July 28. A strange collision in the air occurred a small distance from Munich’s airdrome at Schleissheim. Junker’s largest machine, D 2201, whose victory in the recent international flying contest over the Alps attracted much attention, collided with a training airplane, which was precipitated to the ground and completely wrecked, the pilot being so severely injured that his life is despaired of. The large Junkers’ plane, which had six persons aboard, including the directors of the Lufthansa, which had just taken over the ’plane to put her into the international aviation service, had one wing broken and one motor smashed, but succeeded in making such a smooth forced landing that none of the occupants had even a scratch.
CRASHES IN POLAND.
SIX KILLED IN TWO DAYS. WARSAW, July 28. Wednesday and to-day were bad times for Polish military aviation. One' scouting 'plane crashed owing to a motor defect, near Lemberg, another near Konin, and a third near Posen. In all six were killed, and the three ’planes were wrecked. PACIFIC FLIGHT. NOT PLANNED BY VON GRONAU. BERLIN, July 28. i-ne German aviator von Gronau, who has just repeated his previous flights across the Altantic, in a message received here formally denied reports that he intends to proceed over the Pacific Ocean to Japan.
