CORNED BEEF FOR NAVY
AUCKLAND FIRM SECURES CONTRACT. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, July 10. The annual contract for the supply of one million pounds of corned bee' for the Admiralty, for use in the naval depots in Great Britain, has. for th? first time, come to New Zealand, tlj? successful tenderers being Messrs W. and R. Fletcher of Auckland. The contract is offered for competition throughout the world, and in«the past has usually gone to South Am rica or Australia. The firm will not disclose the contract price, but states that the contract involves payment of £5009 in wages, apart from costs for cased timber. railage, etc. All the meat is to come from the the Auckland province.
