THE STEAMER JOHN

NO NEW DEVELOPMENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, July 9. There were no further developments to-day in connection with the steamer John, which w-as paid off on arrival here from New Plymouth. Fourteen men have lost employment through the steamer being paid off, and it is stated that unless a settlement is reached shortly the John will be laid up indefinitely. Negotiations concerning the trouble will probably take place on Monday.
