ST. MARY’S MEN’S CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of St. Mary’s Men's Club was held in the Club Room. Church Street. on 7th April. The meeting opened with the leader (Rev. W. S. Southward) in the chair. Mr Hammond, the Vicar's Warden, then gave an inspiring address. The secretary, Mr E. R. Sullivan, read the report for 1931, which was adopted. The Rev. Mr Southward then resigned his position as leader, and congratulated Rev. Mr Evans his successor on taking over the leadership. The Rev. J. Evans suitably replied. Mr Eentley thanked Mi* Southward, and congratulated him on his good work during the last two years. These remarks were endorsed by the Rev. Mr Mr Southward thanked the two speakers for their kind remarks, stating that anything he had done for the Club was a pleasure. Mr Southward was unanimously elected a life member. Ten new members were elected. The officers elected for the ensuing year were as follows: President, Archdeacon H. W. Monaghan (re-elected); vicepresidents, Rev. T. Williams and Mr Bentley; leader, Rev. J. Evans; secretary. Mr H. R. Preston; treasurer. Mr E. R. Sullivan; committee, Messrs F. L. Trott, J. Darby, G. R. Valentine, E, Bush. The subscription for the year was fixed at 5 - “overall.” Meeting nights were selected every Tuesday, commencing 12th April, with a games evening. A general programme for the year was outlined by the leader, which included —Bible study, games, and competitions. debates, and addresses, and handicrafts for raising funds.
