ROEHAMPTON CLUB TOURNAMENT. Unlt«d Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright LONDON, April 7. The qualifying stage of the Roehampton Cup, the first professional golf contest in 1932, played in half a gale of wind, saw C. Whitcombe, E. Whitcombe, Mitchell. Compston, Robson, Duncan and Davies, all Ryder Cup players, eliminated, while Perry, the young Leatherhead professional had brilliant rounds of 76-72. A critic referring to the elimination of the Ryder Cup players, says all their failures were due to wasted approach putts.
WELLINGTON WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Pr*ss Association WELLINGTON, April 8. By defeating Miss Watson (Manawatu) two and one, Mrs Duncan Stout (Wellington). won the Wellington Ladies’ Provincial golf championship on the Heretaunga links. A good crowd of spectators followed the finalists round the links. Some firsst-class golf was played. Her greater steadiness gave Mrs Stout the game and championship.
