PARLIAMENT VOTES £50.000 FOR. ENTERTAINING DELEGATES. OTTAWA, February 24. Those who come to Ottawa this July as official representatives of their countries at the Imperial Economic Conference will speak for almost 500,000,000 people, it is stated here, or almost one-quarter of the world’s population. India and all the Dominions are to have their own bodies of delegates, and the representatives of the British Government will hold a brief also, of course, for the wide-spread Crown Colonies.

It is estimated that the delegates and their official parties will number mere than 200; and present also will be many unofficial observers in behalf of political and economic organisations and scores of Press men from all parts of the world. The Conference has aroused great Interest in the United States because of the magnitude of the issues involved and the potential effec: on American trade of decisions which may be reached.

The Government of Canada has arrangements well in hand, and Parliament has voted £50,000 for entertainment of official delegates. They will be housed for the most part in the Chateau Laurler Hotel, a large and modern structure which is the property of the Canadian National Railways. It is understood to be the desire of all concerned in the Conference that the inevitable banquets and receptions

shall be reduced to the minimum, in order that the vital business of the gathering may be expedited. July sees the capital of Canada at its mid-summer best, and those who are to enjoy Ottawa’s hospitality on this occasion will appreciate its natural beauty in a picturesque setting of rivers and hills and the steps being taken towards civic beautification of a permanent nature. They will find luxurious working quarters in the Parliament Buildings, recreation in the beautiful drives and convenient golf courses, and a very cordial welcome from even' citizen of Ottawa and of | all Canada.
