THE WEATHER.
Mr F. L, Wooles. Wind moderate to fresh easterly to southerly; weather fair to changeable, with a scattered shower likely. Dominion Meteorologist. Conditions are still very disturbed to the north and north-east, a cyclone having moved from near Fijj to near the Kermadecs. Pressure is still high over Tasmania and south of the Chatham Islands, but a wave of relatively low pressure is crossing New Zealand. Expect south to south-east winds again becoming general, moderate to strong mainly, but reaching gale force at times about and north of Cook Strait. Seas smooth to moderate on the West Coast of the South Island; elsewhere rough. Weather cold and cloudy in eastern districts, with rain at times, heavy between Castlepoint and Bay of Plenty, but elsewhere mainly light and scattered; fine in western districts and the interior.
