Prospects for “Wizard” Smith making a record breaking attempt to-day are good, but he is unable to make a definite decision until this afternoon, as the tide was high in the middle of this morning, and he cannot inspect the beach until after lunch. Yesterday Smith announced his intention of making a trial run, and the flagmen from Kaitaia arrived. However, he was prevented by poor visibility and dead low tide, it being impossible to see clearly more than 100 yards ahead owing to the heavy mist hanging close to the ground. Smith, however, had the "Enterprise” wheeled out of the garage and the engine finally tested. Smith was more than satisfied with the performance, and stated that all is ready to take the car out whenever the beach is right. There is no more work to be done to the racer, and after yesterday's test the driver was more confident than ever that he will accomplish what he has set out to do.
