United Press Association—By Electric , Telegraph—Copyright LONDON. January 21. The death has occurred of Mr Lytton Strachey. [Giles Lytton Strachey, son of the late Lieut.-Gen. Sir Richard Strachey, was born in 1380 and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. As an author he specialised in biography, obtaining his first popular success with “Eminent Victorians” which consisted of four biographical studies, one being of Florence Nightingale. This was followed three years later by “Queen Victoria,” his most perfect tvork. In 1923 he published “Elizabeth and Essex,” an interesting consideration of the relationship between Queen Elizabeth and the Earl of Essex. “Books and Characters.” a collection of literary studies, and “Portraits in Miniature” published last year, complete his literary output. In his writing Lytton Strachey was among the most perfect stylists of his time. His interests were broad, and he had a remarkable faculty for recreating great episodes in history.]
