The Communist revolutionary movement, which has attained serious proportions in El Salvador, led to-day to ! the despatch of British, Canadian and j American vessels for the protection of the Jives of foreign residents. The United States Charge d’Affaires (Mr McCafferty) informed the State ’ Department that the Italian Consul- , General had appealed for protection for his nationals, and the British Charge d’Affaires had concurred in the ’ view that the despatch of naval ves--1 sels to the scene might prevent “much bloodshed.” The United States ordered a cruiser and two destroyers to Acajugia, or an adjacent port.
