CAROLINE CO-OPERATIVE DAIRY COMPANY, LIMITED.

ANNUAL MEETING. ' The second annual general meeting of the Caroline Co-operative Dairy Co.. Ltd., was held in the Drama Club Hall, Church Street, Timaru, on October 12th, 1931. Mr D. Caithness presided over a fair attendance of shareholders. Before commencing the business of die meeting, the chairman (Mr D. Caithness) made reference to the untimely death of Mr W. D. Revell. Mr Caithness said it was with deep regret that members learned of the death of Mr Revell, under such sad circumstances. A motion of sympathy with Mrs Revell was carried in silence. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance shee.. said that the season had again bee: a trying one, but considering the low prices, we had been fairly successful. He said it was very pleasing to note that all side lines had shown a good profit. Regarding the general working of the factory, costs had been reduced and strenuous endeavours would be made to further reduce them. All salaries and wages had also been reduced considerably. With the present unsettled conditions it was impossible to forecast the future, but it was pleasing to note that during the last few weeks there had been a marked improvement, not only in dairy produce, but in all primary products. It is to be hoped that these prices will not only be maintained but improved upon. There were three nominations for directors, Messrs S. Kingston and F. A. Baldock, the retiring directors, and Mr W. Harvey. After a general discussion. it was unanimously decided to appoint the three nominees to the directorate. Mr W. Allport was re-elected auditor for the ensuing year. Mr W. Parlane moved a hearty vote of thanks to the directors. A vote of appreciation to the staff was carried unanimously, and briefly responded to by the manager, Mr J. Caithness.
