WRESTLING.
TO-NIGHT’S CONTEST. All arrangements are now complete for the wrestling tourney to be staged in the Theatre Royal, this evening. The professional contest between George Pencheff (Bulgaria) and “Rocky" Marshall (America), should provide a scientific and thrilling bout. Both men in their last contests have been somewhat unlucky to lose. Pencheff in his match with Alley looked the probable winner, when in the last round he was injured and was unable to clinch the match. The American also was unfortunate to lose against Kara Pasha in Monday night’s contest at Dunedin. The crafty Turk gained the deciding fall in the last round, when Marshall was at a disadvantage on climbing through the ropes, after having fallen out of the ring. Judged on their performances to date in New Zealand, both men are evenly matched and should provide a close contest. Added interest will be given by the fact that the winner will meet George Walker, of Auckland, in about a fortnight. This match will take place in Auckland, in which city the ex-Ameri-can now resides. Judging by the number of seats being reserved, it appears that the Association will be rewarded with a good house. General approval is being expressed at the reasonable prices, to see such grapplers in action. The main contest will be eight ten-minute rounds with two-minute intervals. The rules provide that after a fall a three minutes’ spell is allowed. The amateur contest should provide interesting bouts. No holds which are dangerous can be used, because it is realised that serious injury could be done to some of the amateurs if the same holds are to be used as are used in professional contests. All arrangements regarding seating accommodation are advertised. Doors will open at 7.1 S p.m.
