THE SHILLING FUND.
BAROMETER MOUNTING RAPIDLY. During the past few days, as a result of organised efforts, Contributions to the "Herald” Shilling Fund have Increased the total amount received very considerably, and further functions are to be held at an early date. Yesterday's contributions brought the total to 7590, the amount received including 29/-, being additional proceeds from the concert held recently In St. Mary’s Hall. The work which Is being done by the Central Relief Society has been greatly appreciated by the unfortunate members of the community, and every shilling which can possibly be spared will be welcomed by the Society to assist In alleviating the distress which still exists In the town.
Subscriptions to this Fund may be handed in to the “Herald” Office; sent in by post; handed to our runners, our mail delivery drivers, or to our representauvet. itt wiunmoc, x and Geraldine, all of whom are authorised collectors. For every shilling donated a separate receipt form will be but ouLocribeib remitting by post are requested to enclose a stamped and addressed envelope should they require receipt forms to be sent them. No establishment or collecting expenses will be charged against the proceeds received, and every shilling donated will be handed over to the Central Relief Committee.
