BASKETBALL.
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. By Teleeraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, September 1. The seventh annual meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Basketball Association was continued to-day, Mrs R. S. Mclnnes, presiding over an attendance of delegates representing thirteen district Associations. A committee set up to consider rules and interpretations submitted a report. In Section 1., it was recommended that the rule should be altered to read: “The game shall be commenced by a guarded pass from the centre of the beginning of each half, and after each goal a guarded pass is given to the centre of the side which has not scored. The referee will recommence the game by blowing his whistle when satisfied the centre has possession of the ball. A guarded pass must be taken within three seconds of the whistle being blown. The opposing centre will take*up a position opposite, and maintain that position opposite till the blowing of the whistle. The pass must be to a player in the centre third.” The question of holding a major and minor section in New Zealand tourneys was discussed, and referred to a Committee. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patroness, Mrs J G. Coates; president, Mr R. S. Mclnnes; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. L. Strathern; trustees, Miss G. Basstian and Messrs B.
