The Rev. John Hubert Dickinson, who is to be assistant Bishop of the diocese of Melanesia, is at present serving in the mission field in Japan. He will arrive in New Zealand shortly for his consecration, which -will take place in the Wellington Pro-Cathedral on Sunday, August 30. Before business at the Timaru Main School Committee meeting commenced last night, the chairman (Mr A. Carnegie), referred to the recent death of Mr C. Porter, for many years assist-ant-architect in Timaru for the Canterbury Education Board. The late Mr Porter, said Mr Carnegie, had been closely connected with part of the work of the Committee, and had been responsible for many kindnesses. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of deceased was carried in silence.
