The only other event to be decided on the opening day will be the three-mile open novice crosscountry race. The visitors at the Hermitage comprise parties from Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington. A party of Timaruvians is expected to-morrow. Those who will participate in the sports will not return from the Ball Hut until Wednesday morning, and the presentation of prizes will take place on Wednesday evening.
