THE WEATHER.

Dominion Meteorologist. A moderate anti-cyclone has been crossing the Dominion to-day, with its centre to the north. A rather intense westerly depression is advancing over the Southern Tasman Sea. Expect freshening westerly to north-westerly winds, later reaching gale force at places from Cook Strait southwards. Seas generally smooth to moderate, but rising south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Weather mainly fair at first, but soon becoming unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect and in the far south, with rain developing. Temperatures mild, especially in eastern districts.
