PERSONAL.
Advice has been received from the War Office in London that Captain S. M. Satterthwaite, N.Z.S.C., of the Dunedin defence staff, has qualified .a the entrance examination to the RoyU Staff College at Camberly. At yesterday’s meeting of the South Canterbury Veterinary Association, a motion of sympathy was passed to the Association’s veterinary practitioner (Mr C. H. Williamson), in the recent death of his eldest son.
Mr E. E. B. Mabin, manager of the Nelson branch of the Bank of New South Wales, will retire on superannuation at the end of the month This week Mr Mabin completed fifty years’ service with the bank, having joined in Nelson in 1881. Consequent upon the retirement at the end of this month of Mr Newton from the position of Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs, Mr P. J. Kelleher, Assistant-Under-Secretary, has been appointed to succeed him, and commences his duties on July 1. The Rev. F. C. Lawrence, who has been senior curate of St. Mary’s, Timaru, for the past three years, has been appointed vicar of the parish at Maniototo, Central Otago (including Naseby, Ranfurly and Waipiata), from the beginning of August. He will be in charge of the Fair lie parish during the month of July.
