HUNT CLUB.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Committee of the South Canterbury Hunt met yesterday. Present— The Master. Mr C. L. Orbell (chairman), Miss B. Harper, and Messrs M. Harper, H. Elworthy, F. F. Neale, A. S. Elworthy, A. G. Macdonald, R. J. Bassett, Harold Elworthy, D. Orbell, W. H. Orbell and R. Murphy. The Christchurch Hunt Club wrote stating that the Committee did not intend to hold a race meeting on August Ist this year, but hoped to race as usual on July 31st, 1932. The secretary (Mr H. H. Fraser) reported that he had written to the Christchurch Hunt advising that South Canterbury had applied for July 30th, 1932, and suggesting that they select some other date. He had received a reply that Christchurch had raced for the last eight years, and could not understand South Canterbury’s action. Mr Fraser mentioned that South Canterbury had raced on the last Saturday in July for the last four years, while Christchurch had raced on the first Saturday In August over that period. It was decided to refer the matter to the Dates Committee.

The chairman stated that the Point-to-Point Sub-committee had selected a very good course for the meeting, practically every fence being in view. The Emergency Committee had decided to postpone the meeting until Saturday week. The chairman said that Mr A. S. Elworthy had been successful in securing a very satisfactory list, which should provide for all trophies required at the Point-to-Point. Mr Elworthy was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for Iris services.

The secretary reported that he had made application for train arrangements for the race meeting similar to those secured by the Jockey Club at their recent meeting. The chairman said that everything pointed to a very successful race meeting, Judging by the support promised by owners and trainers. The following Judicial Committee was appointed:—-Messrs C. L. Orbell, A. 8. Elworthy. F. F. Neale, H. H. Fisher and A. G. Macdonald.

It was unanimously agreed to cease hunting for the season on Wednesday next.
