ALTITUDE RECORD BROKEN. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright (Received April 10, 7.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 9. Elinore Smith, eighteen years of age, landed at Roosevelt Field, after an altitude flight, with the altimeter reading 32,000 ft. It is believed she has broken the present official women’s altitude record of 28,418 ft, held by Ruth Nichols.
