Mrs Osborne Barclay. Waimate, is on a visit to Christchurch. Mrs Laidlaw is staying with Mrs R. A. Rickman. Grey Road. Mrs Murdoch. Christchurch, arrived yesterday at Te Kainga, Wai-iti Road. Mrs C. Bowker. Sarah Street, is on a visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs H. R. Scott. Wai-iti Road, have returned from a visit to Glenoamaru. Mr and Mrs C. R. Orr-Walker. Sefton Street, returned yesterday from a visit to Lake Wanaka. Miss Ann Ensor, North Canterbury, is the guest of Mrs J. Priest, Trafalgar Street. Miss Banks and Miss Cook, Christchurch. are spending a holiday at Te Kainga Rest House. Wai-iti Road. Miss Marjorie Jones, Evans Street, who is on a visit to Mrs Solomon, Dunedin, will return home to-day. Miss J. Turnbull has arrived from Wellington, and has taken a flat in Selwyn Street. Mr David Middleton, and Miss Middleton (Central Otago> are the guests of Mr L. Mathias, Fairview. Mrs Nevill-Smith and Miss Amy Nevill-Smith. Sophia Street, have returned from a visit to their cottage at Geraldine. Mrs A. H. Muir. Silver Birches. Sophia Street, will leave to-day for Dunedin to attend the re-union of St. Hilda’s Old Girls. Mr and Mrs Clive Crozier have returned to Christchurch after a visit to Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite, Elizabeth Street. Dr. and Mrs Mackellar. who spent the week-end with Mrs Walter Raymond, Park Lane, returned to Dunedin on Tuesday. Mrs S. G. Holmes, Methven, will leave to-day for Dunedin, where she will attend the re-union of the Old Girls of St. Hilda’s College. The engagement is announced of Elsie Margaret, second daughter of Mr and Mrs R. J. Pugh, Talbot Street, Geraldine, to Donald, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. H. Cain, Factory Road, Temuka. By her ascent of Mount Sefton (10,354 ft.) from the West Coast side. Miss Gardiner has established a new feminine Alpine record for New Zealand. She was accompanied by Peter Graham, of Franz Josef Glacier, the Dominion’s leading mountaineer and guide, and by Guide Alack. The guests at Te Kainga, Wai-iti Road, for the Easter holidays, included —Mr and Mrs Rowell Leeston. Mr and Mrs Cholerton and Mr Max Cholerton, Miss Ruddock. Mrs Fowler. Mrs Maddi--5011, Miss Halifax. Mrs Nettleton (Christchurch). Miss de Lueur. Mr and Mrs Dellaker and Miss Dellaker, Mr Allen. Dunedin, and the Rev. Mr Ayerton, Mrs Ayerton, the Misses Mary and Edith Ayerton, and Mr R. Ayerton, Bluff. Major and Mrs Bathurst left Wellington on a trip to England by the Makura this week. At Sydney they will embark on the Oronsay. Major Bathurst is a brother of His Excellency Lord Bledisloe. He is not only a veteran of the Great War, but as a young man, he went through the Boer War. His regiment is the Berksliires. He and his attractive wife are very popular in Wellington, and they will be much missed in social circles.
