HOCKEY.
NEW CLUB FORMED. A meeting of ladles was held in Timaru on Tuesday night for the purpose of forming a hockey club. The meeting was presided over by Mr L. Doc krill. The follo\rtng officers were elected: — Patron, Mrs M. H. Richards; president, Mr W. P. Gilligan; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Shea, J. Treacy, R. Burton, W. J. Scott, W. Ramage, E. D. McRae, W. Mottram, C. Youdale, A. H. Alexander, R. Runciman, and JFraser; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Bain; club captain, Miss P. Orr; coach, Mr J. Craig; delegates to South Canterbury Association, Misses M. Gilligan and J. Orr. It was decided that the name of the Club should be the South End Ladies’ Hockey Club, and that the colours should be royal blue and gold. The subscription was fixed at 4/-, to be increased to 5/- if not paid by the end of the first round. It was decided to apply to the South Canterbury Association for permission to play a friendly game with a new club from Oamaru on Saturday next. The following members were enrolled:—Misses P. Orr, M. Bain, T. Scott, M. Gilligan, W. Whyte, L. White, C. Robb, W. Henderson, J. On*, Z. McNaughton, V. Newman, Bowers (2), R. Daly, M. O’Rouke, R. Orr, Mrs Purcell. It was decided to enter two teams In the South Canterbury competitions. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs L. Dockrill, L. Davies, J. Craig and Mrs Orr.
