CHARLIE CHAPLIN IN PARIS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, March 22. Mr Charlie Chaplin’s amazing tour of the capitals culminated in a boisterous reception at the Gare de Lyon on arrival from Venice. A policeman had to rescue the comedian from the clamouring thousands, and carry him bodily from the platform. The police had literally to fight off admirers. Mr Chaplin was thrown bodily into a waiting motor car, which scattered the crowds. . Mr Chaplin looked pale and worried. Crowds lined the route shouting, “Vive, Chaplin.” The “Morning Post’s” correspondent states that Mr Chaplin will lunch with M. Briand to-morrow, when he will be decorated with the Legion of Honour. On Wednesday he will be the guest of the Duke of Westminster at a boar hunt.
