MANAWATU RACING CLUB. STAKES TO LADY QUEX. By Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N., March 23. The Manawatu Racing Club’s autumn meeting concluded in dull showery weather. There was a fair attendance, and the totalisator handled £14,064, against £25,343 last year, and for the meeting £29,817, against £51,3c>8 in 1930, a decrease of £21,541. Results:— KAIRANGA HURDLES, Of 150 sovs; 11 mile. 2 Royal Acre, 10.13 (Dulieu) .... 1 3 Hymgreat, 10.0 (Jenkins) .. ..2 1— Full Mark, 11.0 (Nicol) 3 Also ran—4 Goblin Market, 6 Airtight, 5 Tunbridge. Hymgreat was the early leader from Royal Acre and Goblin Market, but at the five furlongs Royal Acre was in front of Hymgreat and Goblin Market and was not extended to win by three lengths. Goblin Market was fourth. Time—3min 16 3-ssec. LOCKWOOD HANDICAP, Of 150 sovs; 6 furlongs. 2 Knollmere, 8.2 (Reed) 1 1— Kozan, 7.13 (J. J. Ellis) 2 3 Glenrossie, 7.7 (H. Knollmere and Kozan were prominent early with Navaho second behind Knollmere. Ball Dress and Kahikatoa made the running from Pahu to the straight, where My Own and Royal Parade were handy. My Own was in front at the distance, where she was challenged by Pahu and Moutoa Treasury, but won nicely by a length from Pahu, with Moutoa Treasury a neck further back. Mountain Heath was fourth. Morris) .... 3 Also ran—l Chrysology, 5 Richfield, 2 Refresher, 9 Atholspear, 3 Play Ground, 8 Fitzquex. Chrysology and Paratoo were the leaders into the straight, where Refresher, Just an Idea and Paitonu were close. In&the run to the post Just an Idea won nicely by over two lengths from Paratoo and Paitonu, who was a head away, third. Chrysology was fourth. Time—lmin 27 4-ssecs. The race resulted in a convincing win for Lady Quex, which, getting a late run on the rails, prevailed by the best part of a length from Supremacy, which also finished brilliantly, beating Consent by a length for second. Most of the running was made by Pakltere with Consent and Lady Quex next. An inquiry was held into alleged interference with Aspian by Cricket Bat, but no action was taken. Time—lmin 14 1-5 sec. View Halloa was in the van all the way and won nicely by two lengths from Eastertime, which was well back all through, but finished very fast a head in front of Lotus Lily. Larconic, Shatter and Pewa were prominent to the home turn, but Cessation, Arrowhead and Jayson took charge at the distance, Cessation winning by the best part of a length from Arrowhead, with Jayson a neck away.
