Forbes issued a statement with regard to the arrangements at the quarantine station at Home for pedigree stock exported from Britain. Mr Forbes says he has been assured by the highest veterinary opinion that the precautions are such as to make the position of imported animals into New Zealand absolutely safe, while we have, says Mr Forbes, in addition quarantine facilities in New Zealand. He satisfied himself from his own observations, and concludes that New Zealand can, with safety, open its ports and let in stock to improve the flocks. This refers to foot and mouth disease, and pleuro-pneumonia. NATURE'S WARNING. Broken time, reduced wages, pills, and bills often follow the neglect of nature’s warnings.
