Clearing up Earthquake Debris.—“ One thing after another tests our faith here,” writes one of the sturdy reconstruction workers in Napier, describing the present conditions in the earthquake area. “First we had the horror of the earthquake, then the terror of the great fire, then the danger of an epidemic, and now it seems we will be flooded out. On top of all this we have had to get our women and children away, dig out the bodies of the dead, and transport the injured away, clear the wreckage of buildings, and do what we can towards reconstruction.”
