THE CHURCHES.
SUNDAY SERVICES. A National Day of Prayer will be observed in Chalmers Church on Sunday. Services of intercession will be held at 11 a.m. and 6.30 p.m., and appropriate pulpit messages will be delivered. The evening Anthem will be: “Let not your heart be troubled.” A solo will be rendered by Mr D. J. Manning. A National Day of Prayer will be observed in all Methodist Churches tomorrow. The morning service in Banks Street church will be conducted by Mr W. S. McKay, vice-president of the New Zealand Conference, and the evening service by the Rev. Harold T. Peat. There will be appropriate hymns, and the choir will render an Anthem. The services at Woodlands Street church will be conducted by the Rev. H. T. Peat in the morning, and by Mr W. S. McKay and the Rev. P. I. Cook in the evening. Harvest festival services will be held at Kensington. Visitors are cordially invited to all services. The Rev. C. W. Duncumb will occupy the pulpit at the Baptist Church, Wilson Street, at both services to-morrow. The morning study will be “The Christian Attitude Towards the World.” Evening subject: “An Old Man’s Wise Decision.” At the Salvation Army a day of repetance and prayer will be held. The morning subject will be: “The Happy Man”; at night, “Christ’s Warning to the Church.” Band, Songsters and children will take part. To-morrow the services at Trinity Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Rev. A. J. H. Dow. The choir will render suitable music at both serSunday, third Sunday in Lent, the services in St. Mary’s Parish will be as follows:—Holy Communion at 8 a.m. at St. Mary’s, at 9.30 a.m. at All Saints and St. Michaels, and at St. Saviours at 7.30 am. Matins at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s and St. John's. Mission services will be held at 6.30 p.m. at St. Peter’s and Ah Saints, while a People’s Service will be held at 6.30 p.m. at St. Mary’s, when Archdeacon Monaghan will continue his series of sermons on “An Ancient Story from the Word of God.” The services at the Congregational Church to-morrow, will be conducted in the morning by Mr V. S. Pointon, and in the evening by Mr E. C. J. Foot. Visitors are welcome at both services.
