Mr A. J. Allport returned from Wellington yesterday. The Rev. T. Wilson Potts, of V.'aikouaiti, is visiting Timaru. Mr W. Macnamara, of Christchurch, arrived in Timaru yesterday, and proceeded to the Hermitage. Mr W. E. Best, of Christchurch who for 21 vears has been a mernber of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, has been elected a life member of th society. Mr D. Endell Wanklyn has berti appointed to the vacancy °n thecommite tee of the Canterbury Jockey Cluo caused by the death of Mr J. S. Barrett.
The Chief Postmaster at Timaru, Mr C. R. Ingram, will retire on superannuation at the end of th present month. Mr J. Black (president of the Dunedin Horticultural Society) and Messrs J. Miller and S. MacDonald, also of Dunedin, are visiting Timaru. Mr A. H. Glasgow, manager of the Christchuich branch of the Union Bank of Australia, for the past seven years, intends to retire on pension on April 15. Mr Glasgow, who joined the staff of the bank 45 years ago, has been a manager for 31 years, and has been stationed at various times ax Lyttelton, Waimate, New Plymouth, Wanganui. Napier, and Christchurch. Mr George McLeod, present manager of the Union Bank in Hastings, is to be the new manager in Christchuich.
