PROFESSIONS “NATIONALISED.” By Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N., February 10. The Director-General of Health. Doctor M. H. Watt, during a visit t • Palmerston North, inspected the facilities provided for earthquake refugees. He stated that the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board realised that private medical and nursing practice was nonexistent. Department. “They hove done splendid aad extraordinary work,” said Dr. Watt. “The machinery of the Palmerston North Hospital Board proved particularly effective. No matter how many patients there l.ave been, this Board has always been rea y to take them, or arrange fer their disposal among other institutions. The whole of the Palmerston North Hospital staff—doctors, nurses, and the managing secretary, Mr Phillips, have done excellent work under very efficient organisation I cannot speak of their work in too high terms of praise.” The Health Department has detailed Dr Findlay as medical officer and inspector to supervise sanitation and general health facilities at the Showgrounds.
