SHOOTING ACCIDENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, December 28. Two boys were injured in a shooting accident to-day. Frank Hodges (16), when on a shooting expedition at Greendale, sat down to unload a gun, which went off accidentally, the bullet entering his left foot. G. T. Blackburn (also 16), was out shooting at Governor’s Bay, and was sitting on the grass when another boy’s gun hit a rock and red. the shot entering Blackburn’s right hip. Both boys were admitted to hospital, but their injuries are not seriMOTOR CYCLIST INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. December 28. A motor cyclist named R. Stafford was injured in a collision with a motor car in Woodham Road at 10 o’clock this morning. He was admitted to hospital with severe head injuries, and his condition is serious. He partly regained consciousness this afternoon. MOTOR COLLISION. By Telegraoh—Press Association WELLINGTON, December 28. As a result of a collision some miles on the Wellington side of Paekakariki Hill, between a motor cycle which he was riding and a “baby” motor car, P. H. Starrett, optical mechanic, of Johsonville. was admitted to hospital late this afternoon suffering from concussion and shock, injuries to his right leg, and internal injuries. DROWNED IN RIVER. By Telegraph—Press Association. MASTERTON, December 28. A boy of sixteen years, named John Maher, was drowned in the Waiohine river at Greytown this afternoon. Deceased went to the river in company with a lad of eleven, and waded into the river for some distance, when he suddenly disappeared into a deep hole. The body was recovered threequarters of an hour later. Deceased came from St. Joseph’s Home at Upper Hutt. BODY FOUND. By Telegraph—Press Association GORE, December 28. The body of Alfred James Grant (47), married, with four children, a well-known journalist, residing at Mataura, was found in the Mataura river to-day. Deceased had been missing since yesterday morning. INJURED MAN DIES. ROTORUA, December 28. Fred Willis Croft ,of Pokaka (23), the victim of a motor accident yesterday on the Whakarewanewa Road, died in the King George's Hospital last night from the injuries received. The condition of the others, Agnes and Francis Willis Croft, is favourable. DEATH FROM INJURIES. By Telegraph—Press Association. OAMARU, December 28. Mrs Ellen McAuley (78), who was knocked down in Thames Street on Christmas Eve by a motor car, driven by William Cameron, succumbed to her injuries to-day. SUCCUMBS TO WOUNDS.
