INTERESTING AND NEATLY WRITTEN LETTERS.

Dear Peter Pan, It won’t be my fault If I have to halt, And cah*t go on any more. For l ift no good at rhyming, So it's no use my pining, ’Twill just be as bad as before. Some people have all the luck, And never at rhymes get stuck, But, alas for poor me, I wonder and pore and pore, Till every reader I bore, Just trying a poet to be. A scrap-book I've made for the boat, When next she goes afloat •to the Land of Blanket Bay. Its pictures are very bright. And present a colourful sight With which email children may play. Holidays soon will begin. Then hurrah! for cheers and din As Christmas Day draws near. Rockets are fired, Thoughts are inspired. As the happiest day appears. And now I’ll conclude this rhyme, For lack of news and time, Until some future date, Which won’t be very late. —“Jewelette,” Mary Stephen, Timaru. Dear Peter Pan, • When last I wrote to you the days ■were tipped with snow, and Winter laid her cold hands on the world. Now, however, the air is warm and the earth is covered with fargrant flowers of every hue. We have a dear little black and white kitten at home, but alas, he has no name. I wonder if you could suggest one for him, Peter Pan. It seems wonderful to think of all the golden days of freedom ahead of us, and I can hardly wait for Christmas! How is Christopher Robin? I suppose he is quite a big pussy now. We have some pretty orange lilies in the garden and they make a bright glow against the surrounding green foliage. I was sitting in the garden the other day, when all at once I heard a sound that relninded me of a little trickling brook. Upon looking up I saw a dear little green and lemon bird. He had his wee head poised on one side and was pouring forth a cascade of golden notes from his tiny bill. I was so delighted that I sat up straight, and the movement startled him. He sped away on his swift wings, up, up, into the blue sky, and I saw him no more. With all good wishes to you and your Circlians for a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, and love from your affectionate Circlian — “Rainbow Fairy,” Jessie Taylor, Timaru.

Dear Peter Pan. The Pen Fairy is tugging at my sleeve trying to make me take notice of her. * “Peter Pan’s letter! Peter Pan's letter!” she whispers in my ear; so I just sat down straight away to write to you. We had a school bazaar on Friday, and the takings were £l3O. I was on the sweet stall, and we were kept busy, and had sold out before the bazaar was over. We will be having our break-up soon, at which the ..prizes will be given. I suppose you are busy marking our Christmas Competitions. My Scrap-book would just be in time for the Christmas Ship. I wish I could go down to see the Exhibition of Toys in Timaru, as I am sure it will be good. How is Christopher Robin II.? I hope he is a credit to our Page. Peter sends a “miaw” to him. He is looking at me With one eye open just now. as he has been sleeping for a long time; but. whether or not that is meant for a wink. Ido not know. We are going to have a play at school in about a fortnight. It is going to be given by the third and fourth form girls, and lam in it. It is called “Paddly Pools,” and we have been practising very hard for it. This is only a wee letter, but it carries lots of “thimbles” for Robin, Redcap. Will o’ the Wisp and yourself—- " Puck,” Margaret Madill, Blenheim. Dear Peter Pan, Thank you very much indeed for the lovely postal nots you sent to me. I was proud of it, and, what do you think! It arrived just in time for my birthday! I have been very busy dressing two little dolls for our Christmas Ship, which will soon be sailing away to all the little sick-a-beds, and I am sending them to you with this letter. I am also sending you two albums. We had our display of work at the Technical School last Friday and a large crowd of people came along. From what they have told us they thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. We had several stalls, too. On Labour Day we went to Oamaru where we spent a most enjoyable day in the Gardens there. The “Wonderland” monument is very nice but all the flowers have been taken away from round it now, so it is not as nice as the last time I saw it. The fountain and fern house are also very pretty. On Show Day I had just returned from school, and while eating my dinner, my little brothe, aged three, came running in almost crying and said that the house was on fire. On going out, I saw that the wash-house and my brother’s bedroom were burning. But thanks to the neighbours, the fire was almost extinguished before the firemen came, and there was not a great deal of damage done. I am enclosing another small piece of poetry which I hope will be published in our Page, and in the meantime I am composing one on Christmas. Lots of love from your lovirg Circlian—“Damask Rose,” Lottie Sapwell, Timaru.
