BRITAIN’S VITAL WATERWAY: WHERE SHIPS WERE FOGBOUND A scene on the River Thames where the movements of vessel, of all types were greatly hampered by a dense fog that completely blanketed Vie river. The congestion, according to reports, was unprecedented and 400 vessels were held up. The river (as may be seen from the picture), is always dotted with ships of all sizes. During the fog period a number of eallisions occurred. The photograph shows the new Tilbury landing stage.
