THE HOLY BIBLE.
RIGHTS OF PUBLICATION IN QUESTION. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 23. The unusual question whether any other than three firms in England have the right to publish the Authorised Version of the Bible, is expected shortly to occupy the High Court. Among the many interests involved are the Crown, (who is the owner of the copyright), and various religious bodies. The printers in England who have the right to issue the Authorised Version are Cambridge University, Oxford University and Syre and Spottiswood, who are the Kings printers. Recently the latter objected to the Bible issued by another firm of London printers, and requested that the firm should stop publication and recall the copies in circulation, and break up the type. The company concerned maintain that the Bible they have been publishing for the past fifteen years, is in nowise an infringement of the copyright. This complicated question will almost certainly reach the Courts for solution.
