SOCIAL NOTES.

Miss Pratt, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs F. F. A. Ulrich, Elizabeth Street. Mrs F. Haines is staying with Mrs R. F. Hill, Mere Mere Street. Mrs C. J. LeCren, Grey Road, has returned from a visit to Dunedin Mr and Mrs Hercus. Dunedin, are staying at the Balmoral. Miss Hislop, Dunedin .is staying at "Cadogan,” Sefton Street. Mr and Mrs J. Goldie, Seddon Street, are on a visit to Christchurch. Mrs Stronach, “Cadogan.” Sefton Street, has returned from a visit to Mrs Fergus, Dunedin. Mrs Scoular and her family, Oamaru, are staying with Mrs G. A. Martin, Te Weka Street. Miss Sheila MacPherson, Dunedin, is the guest of Mrs W. Evans, North Street. Mrs Walter Raymond and her family, Park Lane, will leave to-day to spend the holidays at Moeraki. Mr and Mrs G. B. Courtis, Grasmere Street, have gone to Wellington for the holidays. Mrs W. A. Moore, “Venard,” Wai-iti Road, is staying with her mother, Lady Kinsey, Christchurch. Mr and Mrs W. D. Revell, Jackson Street, are spending a few days in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs F. I. Washbourn, Wichenford, Grant’s Road, have left to spend the holidays in Nelson. Mrs and Miss Tweedy, Dunedin, are the guests of Mrs W. G. Tweedy, Nile Street.

Mr and Mrs J. C. Templar, Waimate, arrived yesterday to stay with Miss Wright, Wai-iti Road. Mr and Mrs Taylor, Littlebourne, Dunedin, are staying with Mrs C. J. LeCren, Grey Road. Mrs F. Reading, Wellington, who was staying witn Mrs Walter Raymond. Park Lane, has left for Moeraki.

Mr and Mrs A. Johnston, Blenheim, are the guests of Mrs W. Johnston, Sefton Street.

Mr and Mrs F. Newton. Maltby Avenue, have left on a motor tour through the Mackenzie Country.

Mrs Gerald Bowen and Miss Christabel Bowen, Christchurch, are the guests of Mrs W. H. Helmore, ■'Kcromikc.” Wai-iti Road Miss Margery Gibson. Elizabeth Street, left yesterday for Christchurch; where she will play in the New Zealand tennis championships. Mrs E. J. LeCren and Miss Ethel LeCren, Evans Street, left on Christmas Eve to stay with Mrs Graham, Christchurch, for the holidays.

Mr and Mrs R. Holdgate and Miss Amy Holdgate, Rhodes Street, will leave to-day on a trip to the Southern Lakes.

A very enjoyable evening was spent by those present at the Broadway Cabareet on Christmas night. The beautiful setting of the room, gay colours and many novelties, added greatly to the success of the evening. A special feature was the ballet by Misses Nellie Hill, Greta Halkett, and Valencia Skilling, the dance being much appreciated. Among those present were. Misses B. Anderson, K. Rodgers, M. Gilligan, M. Thompson, T. Calgarth, T. James. E. Jowsey, M. Isaac, M. Cameron, R. Ford, I. Sims, B. Stevens, M. Orbell, B. Williams, J. Taylor (Christchurch), and many others; Messrs R. Towsend, H. Button, W. Alexander, W. Ramage, E. james, V. McKeague, A. Campbell, E. McKeague, A. Strange, B. King, J. Isaac, G. Russell, A. J. Deans, W. Arnold, and I-. Pithie. To the end of the year’s work, pupils of Miss Frieda Robei\ .ntertained their parents at a L ..cite . lecital at the “Carlton” on oaturday evening. The room was decked with large bowls of flowers, and Miss Robertson wore a beige georgette frock with bands of mauve. After a most enjoyable evening supper was enj >yed by all. Miss Robertson was presented with beautiful bouquets by past and present pupils. The former by Miss Mona White and latter by Miss M. Nelson. The following rendered duets: —Misses Mary Taylor and Frieda Robertson, Hughie and Nellie Nelson. Gertrude Archer and Jean Brickell, Laidi Chapman and Joan Cox, Freda and Doris Usher, Nella Moore and Gwen Chapman, Mene Butchers and Doris Fisher, Joyce Averis and Phyllis Hayes, Muriel Blance and Myra Evans, Catherine and Ivan Johnston, Margaret and Evelyn Prosser, Marv Taylor and Phyllis Sanders. Zoo Walden and Florrie Lee, Evelyn Prosser and Miriel Blanch, Cathie Thoreau and Phyllis Hayes, Jean and Doris Brickell, Myra Evans and Sylvia Keay. Solos were nlayed by, Saidie Chapman, Joan Cox, Ernest Hawke, Jean Brickell, Doris Brickell. Phyllis Hayes. Cathie Thoreau, Mena Butcher, Catherine Johnston, Gertrude Archer, Mary Taylor, Sylvia Fjyiy. Myra Evans and Miriel Blanch.
