THE WEATHER.
Dominion Meteorologist. An intense depression is covering the New Zealand area, and the eastern Tasman Sea. Pressure is high over eastern Australia. Winds, strong westerly to gale backing to south-westerly again after from ten to sixteen hours. Seas rough generally. In the Tasman Sea, strong west to south-west winds to gales, with rough seas in the eastern Tasman. The weather will be unsettled and squally, with rain in most districts, and some falls in the western districts. There will be thunder with hail in places and snow on the ranges. Temperatures will be mild at first in the eastern districts, but a general cold change is likely to-morrow.
