SIR MAUI POMARE.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 22. It has been arranged that after the arrival in Wellington of the remains of the late Sir Maui Pomare on Monday, a memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, conducted by Bishop Sprott, assisted by Canon Wilfred Williams, of Wanganui, superintendent of Maori church work in the Wellington Diecese, and some of the Maori clergy in the Wellington district. After the service, the casket will be removed to the vestibule ot Parliament House, where it will lie in state until the afternoon. The natives of Porirua and Wanganui have asked for calls to be made at those places before the remains are interred at Waitara, but it has been found impossible to accede. The arrangements for the transport of the casket to Waitara remain as previously announced. A special train will leave Wellington on Thursday night, pick up Lady Pomare and the casket at Waikanae, and proceed to Waitara, arriving early next morning. Several members of the Legislature have intimated a desire to attend the obsequies. The Government will be represented by Sir A. T. Ngata and Colonel G. J. Smith, M.L.C.
