FIRES.

TWO HOUSES DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. DARGAVILLE, August 22. Late last night, a fire at Bayley’s gorge, a seaside resort, some seven miles from town, destroyed two residences, the property of Mrs John Finlayson and Mi* Samuel Barker. The glare was noticed in town by motorists, who had been attending a meeting. They went out and found Mrs Finlayson’s house well ablaze and Mr Barker’s partially. A few contents of the latter were saved, but both houses, owing to lack of water supplies, are a total loss. Adjoining houses, though scorched, were undamaged. The insurances were £2OO on each.
