IVO WHITTON DEFEATED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received August 20, 10.40 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 20. The Australian open golf champion Ivo Whitton was defeated by the national amateur champion M. J. Ryan, seven and six, in the first semifinal of the State amateur golf championship to-day. Len Nettlefold, twice amateur champion, defeated W. A. Edgar, five and three in the second semi-final. Ryan and Nettlefold play off to-morrow.
