AWARDS FOR BRAVERY. By Telegraph—Presp Association CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. At a meeting of the Royal Humane Society Court of directors, the following awards were made:— Letter of commendation, and In Memoriam certificate to relatives of Herbert Noel Dew, aged 21, who lost his life in attempting to rescue Leslie Goldsapk in the municipal baths at Woodville on November 27, 1929. Letter of Commendation — John Thomas Horne, 21 years, who recovered the body of Dew. John Charles Orme, 60 years, John Frankland, 41 years, for rescuing Miss Wrigley from drowing at the ferry wharf at Day’s Bay, Wellington on March 6, 1930.
Certificates to Gregor Marshall (21), for rescuing George Gilham from drowning at Gisborne on July 3. 1930; and Percival Raymond Foster (19), for rescuing James Whitelaw from drowning at Wellington on May 3, 1930.
