THE WEATHER

Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind moderate westerly to southerly ruling; weather somewhat unsettled, but mainly fair. Outlook for week ending August 25: Wind mainly easterly to southerly; weather somewhat changeable, with an occasional shower, but more fair than otherwise during the period.

Dominion Meteorologist. An anti-cyclone is moving on to New Zealand, but a series of low pressure waves of the westerly type is passing in the South. Expect winds variable at times in eastern districts, but otherwise west to south-west prevailing, light to moderate in most places, but strong about Foveaux Strait. Seas rather rough about Foveaux Strait, otherwise smooth or moderate. Weather mainly fair, but scattered showers in western districts, and the far south. Temperatures moderate.
