Official figures disclose that the total amount of money deposited in the trading banks in Australia, was £309,000.000, as at June 30. Deposits have contracted by £19,500,000 in the past twelve months, while advances have increased £16,750,000. After deducting total liabilities in Australia from the total assets in Australia, the surplus of the banks for the twelve months under review has almost doubled, and is now £66,231,000.
