PERSONAL.
Mr R. A. Falla, lecturer in nature study at Auckland Training College, has been appointed a member of the Mawson Antarctic Expedition. He went south with Mawson last year. Mr J. M. Dunn, late of the Universal Film Corporation, Wellington, arrived in Timaru yesterday to take over the management of the Grand Pictures. A vote of condolence with the family of the late Mr J. McKerchar, was passed by the South Canterbury Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union yesterday. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr D. Pearce, of Glen-iti, was passed by the South School Committee at their meeting last night. The chairman (Mr W. J. Dickson) said that the late Mr Pearce had been a member of the Glen-iti School Committee, and had associated himself with many of the social functions at the South School. The South School, at their meeting last night, passed a motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Sir Joseph Ward, the chairman (Mr W. J. Dickson) stating that Sir Joseph was an eminent statesman, and although there were divided political opinions, all would agree that Sir Joseph Ward had had a distinguished career, and gave ungrudgingly of his ability to the Dominion.
