With a marked improvement in the weather yesterday, waterfront operations were in full swing, with the result that three vessels were able to depart with northern cargo. The Opihi loaded general Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth cargo, and sailed for Lyttelton. The Breeze shipped for Wellington and Wanganui, sailing at night for Lyttelton. The Holmdale, which arrived on Sunday, sailed in the afternoon for Lyttelton with Wellington and Wanganui cargo aboard. The Wainui, on the Wellington, Napier and Gisborne run, is due today from the south. The Kiwitea, from South Australian | ports and Melbourne, is expected today for discharge. She is to depa the same day for Greymouth direct. The Storm should be an arrival today from Oamaru, to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Progress is set down for tomorrow from the south. She is to load Wellington, New Plymouth and Waikato cargo, and should sail the same day for Wellington direct. The Omana, with Australian cargo for discharge, is due on Saturday from Lyttelton. Wellington and Auckland cargo should go north on Saturday per the Waimarino. The Wingatui was to have left Auckland yesterday for South Island ports, including Timaru. The Kalingo, which left Newcastle on August 1, should be an early arrival at Timaru. Overseas. The Argyllshire should depart tonight for Lyttelton, on completion of her loading of frozen meat and general cargo at Timaru. The authorities hope to berth the Rotorua this morning. The vessel is to load Home cargo. The City of Khartoum has been delayed. and is now expected on Monday from New York, via ports, to discharge American general cargo. The Remuera, to load frozen meat anu general cargo for London, is listed for August 21. The Mamilus, for similar loading, is scheduled for August 29. The Otaki is due to sail from Liverpool at the end of this month for New Zealand ports, including Timaru. NEW ZEALAND PORTS. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, August 6. WHANGAREI, August 6. The motor ship Port Waikato, due to sail from Whangarei yesterday, was delayed till 7 o’clock this morning owing to the absence, on the “spree” of four seamen, who were eventually located by the police at Hukerenui, 21 miles north from here. They were taken back to the vessel, which was waiting down the harbour, at the Oneraki wharf. MAIL NOTICES.
