AUSTRALIAN'S EASY VICTORY. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 31. The Australian cricketers defeated Somerset by an innings and 158 runs. Bradman and Jackson each scored centuries. When Somerset went in the second time Grimmett had the batsmen struggling hopelessly and wound up with an average of seven for 33. When play was resumed on the second day the weather was overcast and the wicket was easy. Bradman and Jackson batted beautifully until nearing their centuries, when caution was shown. Bradman got his first in 185 minutes. The side’s 200 had taken 205 minutes. First of Tour. Jackson’s belated first century of the tour occupied 220 minutes. The pair had put on 231, when Bradman wao brilliantly caught. He hit thirteen fours. Five runs later Jackson was out. He hit fifteen boundaries and gave one chance. He scored freely today all round the wicket. M’Cabe failed to get going. Richardson hit a sixer and in attempting a second was caught at the fence. Woodfull hit vigorously, and a’Beckett was also severe, hitting White for a four and a six in one over The Australian innings lasted 365 minutes. Batsmen’s Struggle. Somerset their second innings at 4.20. The first wicket fell at seventeen. Four were down for 26, and six for 43. Grimmett first appeared when the score was twenty-two and soon had the batsmen struggling hopelessly. Wellard, however, hit a tremendous sixer off him over the pavilion, and there were several minutes’ delay in recovering the ball. The same batsman, emulating Richardson, lifted one into the cemetery iiearby. M’Cabe broke Grimmett’s long run of triumph by skittling Hunt, but the googly bowler ended the match at 6.10 when Marshall skied one to Bradman. The following were the scores:—
