CASUALTIES.
CAR DRIVER KILLED. PASSENGERS SERIOUSLY INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, July 27. A fatal motor accident occurred on a bridge at Albany late last night. A large car plunged fifty feet into the bed of a creek, and the driver, E. J:Fraser, of Northcote. was killed. Mrs Catherine Ralston, of Northcote, received serious injuries to her head, and Clement Peters, of Northcote, received injuries to his head. It is stated that the car skidded on the bridge and crashed through the railing, and fell to the bed of the creek.
Fraser died almost immediately. It was fortunate that the tide was out when the accident occurred, otherwise all might have been drowned. Fraser was aged forty, and leaves a widow and one child. LORRY ACCIDENT HAS FATAL RESULT. By Telegraph—Press Association. WOODVILLE, July 26. When descending a hill on Saddle Road at about 3.15 p.m. to-day, a motor lorry loaded with firewood, and driven by J. Burlace, of Woodville, fell 50 to 60 feet. The driver escaped with minor injuries. but a man named J. Mitchell, an old age pensioner, received severe injuries, and died later after being attended by Dr. Miles. It is believed that the brakes of the lorry failed. Deceased was married, with a family, who are living at various parts of New Zealand. A FRACTURED HIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. WOODVILLE. July 26. A lad named Bernie Ebbett (15), of Woodville. while playing football against Pahiatua District High School this morning, had a hip fractured. FATALLY INJURED IN FACTORY. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND. July 27. Elvina Nesbit (19 >, of Morningside, received severe head injuries when she was struck by a falling stack of trays while working at the Empire Box Company’s premises yesterday. She was taken to hospital, and died this morning. SUDDEN DEATH IN SHOP. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, July 27. Florence Skelton (29), residing in Remuera Road, collapsed in a city shop where she was working and died before assistance could be given her. It is understood that Miss Skelton had been attended by a doctor for some time on account of heart trouble.
