Last year, up to the last day on which discount was allowed, £I7OB was collected, but the discount day was then extended for a further two weeks. Saturday morning was springlike in Temuka, the sun imparting a warmth that proved most welcome. Shortly after midday a nor’-wester sprang up, but this also was of a warm nature. Later in the afternoon, however, a cold southerly completely changed the atmosphere, which became very cold. Reception of the third test match at Auckland was fairly good in Temuka on Saturday afternoon, and all sets claimed a large number of listeners, who appeared to thoroughly enjoy the game.
