FATAL MISTAKE. By Telegraph—Press Association. GISBORNE, July 24. Suffering from what was believed to be the effects of poisoning, Mrs Christina Sutherland McMahon (31), wife of Francis Leonard McMahon, was taken to Cook Hospital by the ambulance this afternoon, and died shortly afterwards. It is understood that she mistook a bottle of rat poison for medicine. WAR SUFFERER’S SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association LEVIN, July 24. A distressing case of suicide occurred this afternoon when J. J. Clark, a bootmaker in business for himself, was found at the rear of his premises suffering from self-inflicted wounds in the throat. He was removed to the hospital, but despite blood transfusion passed away two hours later. Deceased sustained serious injury to a leg in the war, and had suffered severely ever since. He leaves a wife and two young children. ANOTHER DEATH IN PRISON. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 25. A man, believed to be William Kruse, or Craise, a labourer, who was arrested yesterday for drunkenness, • died during the night in a police cell at New Brighton.
