Sir Francis Boys and Mr L. J. LeCren are staying at the Grand. Members of the Christ’s College football team will pass through Timaru by the express this morning en route for Dunedin, where they are to play Otago Boys High School in the annual match. Dr T. H. A. Valintine, Director-Gen-eral of Health, has notified the Government that as he has reached the retiring age, he will give up duty • t the end of August. In 1902 Dr Valintine was appointed Chief Health Officer in New Zealand, in 1907 he was made Inspector of General Hospitals, and ill 1920 Director-General of Health.
