LAST YEAR’S SMALLER CHEQUE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 20, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 20. The total proceeds of the sales of wool in Australia this season show a drop of nearly £25,000,000, compared with last year.

CONTROL OF SELLING. SOUTH AFRICAN MARKET FORECAST. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 20, 5.5 p.m.) CAPETOWN, July 19. Despite the failure to get unanimity among the farmers’ associations, with regard to the auctioning of wool, as desired by the Australian growers, the Association believes that the opening month will witness a slight fall in prices, followed by a steady rise till November, when prices will be stabilised. The Association advises farmers not to dispose of Merinos to invest in pieces, as seemed to be the present tendency.
