PYNE, GOULD, GUINNESS, LTD. pYNE, GOULD, GUINNESS, LTD. ADDINGTON MARKET REPORT. WEDNESDAY, 2nd JULY, 1930. STORE SHEEP —There was a small entry, and a fair attendance of buyers. There were a number of pens of good half and fine S-bred ewe hoggets on offer, and these sold at from 16/- to 19/6, but the quality of these lines was good, and the prices were scarcely up to those realised for ewe hoggets during the last month. There was fair competition for any sound-mouth ewes, and the bulk of the yarding of adult sheep was disposed of at prices on a par with recent sales. FAT LAMBS—There was again a good entry for this time of the year. Competition was keen, prices being equal to those at last week's sale. The bulk of the lambs sold. at about 8d per lb. The range of values was as follows: —Extra prime lambs 27/- to 30/-. prime 23/- to 26/-. medium 18/to 22/-, light 15/6 to 17/6. FAT SHEEP—The entry was lighter than the two exceptionally heavy yardings of the past fortnight, but the supply was still heavy. The sale was a good one, and prices were from par to 1/- better than last week. Amongst our principal sales were the following:—On account of Messrs W. Lake and Son (Cascade). 58 wethers at 28/7 to 30/4; on A/c. Gracia’s Estate (Bank's Peninsula), 66 wethers at 22/10 to 28/10; on A/c. Cashmere Estate, 216 wethers at 22/1 to 28/7; on A/c. Mr F. Carter (West Melton), 51 wethers at 23/10 to 27/1; on A/c. Mrs C. H. Ridgen (Greendale), 76 ewes at 18 4 to 23/1. The following is the range of values:—Wethers, extra prime 30/- to 33/-, prime 27/6 to 29/6, medium 23/- to 26/6, light 17/- to 22/-; ewes, extra prime to 26/1, prime 18/- to 23/-, medium 13/- to 17/-, light and inferior 10/6 to 12/6. FAT CATTLE—The entry totalled Close on 500. which makes an average of about 520 per week for the past three weeks. These are very heavy entries when it is considered that: about 600 is usually an average yarding at a double market. There was fair competition at prices little different from those ruling last week. The feature of the entry was a magnificent line of 50 Hereford and Polled Angus bullocks, which we offered from the well-known Rototawai Station, near Featherston. These were a splendidly finished line, which would average about 9001 b, the average price for the line being just on £l7/15/-. Major P. H. Johnson, of Raincliff, Pleasant Point, forwarded another draft of two trucks of eighteen-month baby beef. These also were Polled Angus arid Hereford cattle, and they sold up to £9/7/6. Best quality medium-weight local steers and heifers made from 40/to 42/6 per 1001 b, with heavy steers at about 37/6 per 1001 b, cow beef selling at from 30/- to 35/-, according to quality. The range of values was as follows:—Steers, extra prime £lB to £23/2/6, prime £ls to £l7/10/-, medium £ll to £l4, light £9 to £lO/10/-; extra prime cows arid heifers £l2 to £ls/10/-, prime £9 to £ll/10/-, light £6/10/- to £B/10/-.
